吾道一貫(Go Dou Ikkan)

吾道一貫 Go Dou Ikkan was originated by Confucius. It is written in the book titled “Analects of Confucius”. Go Dou Ikkan means “all-pervading unity”. As stated in the book, all-pervading unity has underlying principles. These are: 仁 Jin, which means benevolence, and 忠恕 Chuujo, which means conscientiousness and consideration for others.
Both principles embody and manifest one’s high nature. Chuujo means following the naturally good heart in relations with others. This means that people need to be true to the principles of our nature and the benevolent exercise of them to others. This teaching is composed of two words: conscientiousness and charity. In this regard, the main responsibility of the members of the society is to sacrifice their lives for the sake of what is right; people have to do what is right without causing trouble to their fellow individuals. This teaching can be summarized as conscientiousness to the self and consideration for others.
